The violence against women and girls project, creates sustainable and long-lasting improvements to the community by empowering women—especially those who are marginalised, in recovery, or facing physical and mental health challenges—to recognise their value and potential. By providing a safe, supportive space where women can grow in confidence, explore their skills, and develop leadership, we foster personal transformation that ripples out into families and the wider community.
Through structured sessions like motivational talks, and leadership opportunities such as planning our annual women’s empowerment conference, women are equipped not just to heal, but to lead. This model builds a cycle of peer support and mentorship, where those who’ve grown stronger reach back to lift others.
By investing in women’s strengths and creating a platform for their voices, we’re nurturing resilient, capable leaders who will continue to positively impact Burnley for years to come.
Sessions are designed to provide education and information about what Domestic Abuse is and how to report it including awareness of Clare’s Law. Women learn how to let go of past traumatic experiences, how to set effective boundaries to protect ourselves and increase self-worth and self-esteem, to grow in confidence. We strive to encourage women to use these tools to break up the cycle and break free from domestic abuse.
Specialist sessions include:
- Information on how to look after yourself and your family, such as Parenting Classes, Breast Health Screening, Menopause Training, Cervical Cancer
- Training on Trauma and PTSD
- Self-Defence classes
- Domestic Violence Specialists
